A New Beginning

I missed writing.

Today, I was talking with Migs, my boyfriend, about one thing I’ve observed about myself: I haven’t been sharpening my writing skills. It’s almost as if this passion I’ve had ever since I was young is starting to slowly fade away.

That scared me. The idea that the thing I’ve longed to do as a young child, when asked what she would like to do when she grows up, is progressively slipping from my grasp… I can’t. It’s a thing that’s hard to swallow.

You see, I grew up writing poems and letters to my mom. We didn’t grow up with much so I tried to make do with what I have. So whenever it was her birthday, I’d write for her as my gift. Mother’s Day? I’d write. Christmas? I’d write again.

She kept most of the notes and letters. Some were sadly destroyed by floods. But whatever was kept, when I have the chance to read them, would always make me cringe — a nostalgic, sentimental, what-was-I-even-saying kind of feeling.

Anyway, I’m not the best writer (and I can never claim to be). My writings have some grammar errors and typos. They’re not the most concise, structured, or even creative. But one I know for sure is that they’re honest. When I write, it’s like I’m thinking out loud. When I write, best believe it’s like I’m letting you read through my personal journals. And there lies the beauty of it: when I write, you can expect to find the reflections and lessons I myself learn through life — whether through the easy way or the hard way — and then, as I hope you would, take those lessons with you as well.

THAT… that is why the idea of not writing scared me.

Because I know that God created us for a purpose and He so intentionally and wonderfully gave us the gifts we have not to keep them to ourselves but to share them to the world. I can never keep this gift to myself. I can never allow myself to be complacent to the point of slowly losing it. I can never be silent while my heart longs to write and speak praises to my Lord loudly and boldly.

So today, I claim a new beginning. It’s been a while since I’ve last journaled and blogged. I used to do it all the time, I’m not even sure why I stopped. But that changes now.

I won’t promise to write and post blogs again every day or every week like I used to years ago. But I will most definitely write more again. I hope you don’t mind my ramblings, random thoughts, and reflections.

If you’re new here, I used to be a blogger back in 2015. I’d write about random things — mostly, lifestyle, fashion, and travel posts with a couple of posts on teenage struggles and romanticizing crushes and unrequited love. I know, it’s crazy to think that blog has now eventually become Myrra Kate Co., my online educational consultancy business helping experts, authors, and entrepreneurs from across the world turn their God-given gifts into transformational online courses and learning experiences. What a switch, right? Only God could’ve done that — all glory to Jesus!

So… will you go on this journey with me as I start this new beginning?
