How to Scale Your Coaching Business Without Compromising Your Time

Perhaps you're an online coach who's still trading your time for money with your 1:1 services. Perhaps you're constantly exhausted going through your business day after day because your calendar is filled with back-to-back coaching calls and sales calls so you can ensure that you wouldn't run out of clients. Perhaps your once "booked out" calendar has now been a nightmare for you because you don't have time anymore to take a break for yourself and spend time with your family.

If this is a clear picture of where you're at right now, don't worry. Brighter days are on the way.

I, myself, have been in a similar situation. Last year, I was juggling my full-time job as a writer, my side hustle job as a social media strategist, and my business as an online coach. That sounds a lot, I know, but from my perspective back then, I was on a high. After all, that's what society tells us, right? They tell us to hustle and grind nonstop so we can achieve our goals.

But what other people didn't know was that even though I looked like I was on a high, my body and mental health was actually at its lowest state. I was constantly getting hives all over my body, which was mostly triggered by stress. I was crying most nights, breaking down because I felt like it was all too much. I was just burning out even when I choose to show up every day like there was nothing wrong.

That's the moment when the truth hit me like a ton of bricks.

Our time, not money, is our most important asset.

What's the use of building a very successful business when on the inside, we're constantly dying of exhaustion and loneliness? What's the point of being the richest person alive when we have isolated ourselves and compromised our health and the quality time we should've spent with our loved ones?

Are You Still Trading Your Time for Money?

One-on-one coaching and working with clients on a 1:1 basis are definitely valuable. For some people, this is the best business model that fits their personality and the way they want to serve their audience. I believe this business model is really an amazing way to make an impact as it includes direct conversations which mean we can personalize everything for our clients.

However, I believe that it is not entirely sustainable. We only have 24 hours a day. If you think about it, the time we spend on 1:1 calls or meetings, which is directly proportional to the money we earn, is also directly proportional to the time we lose in our day-to-day life. So if, say, we spend 2 hours per client, and we have 5 clients, we may spend 10 or more hours per day. If you want to increase your profit, it's either you increase your prices or the number of clients you have (but there's a ceiling for both).

It's very likely that you're here -- reading this blog post (I appreciate you btw!) -- because you've already realized that and now, you're looking for a more sustainable way to serve your audience, do what you love, and still earn and not compromise your time.

That's why in this blog post, I'm sharing some tips on how you can scale your coaching business with courses.

3 Things To Do To Scale Your Coaching Business with Courses

The online education is booming not only because of the boom of technology but also because more and more people are realizing that it's a great way to learn with accessibility and it's also a great way to share and teach what they already know.

You can definitely scale your coaching business with courses (online courses, in particular) especially because there are people who might not be able to afford or commit to your 1:1 coaching but are likely to invest in an online course of yours.

This is also beneficial as it means you get to spend less time directly coaching people for your business and be able to allocate that extra time in things that should be prioritized more (i.e. CEO work or managing your team) or things that are not business-related (i.e. traveling, spending vacations with your family, etc.).

But how do you really scale your coaching business with courses? Here are 3 ways you can do so.

Package Your Expertise

Whether you're a new coach or an already established one, I'm sure you already have a coaching idea or program of yours. The only thing you need to be doing is packaging it as a course curriculum.

Now, I don't mean to oversimplify this. Planning out the entire course curriculum itself should be done efficiently or else, you'll end up just throwing everything to your student and they end up feeling confused and overwhelmed about everything you just taught them.

What I want you to realize is that if you already have a coaching program of yours, it's 100% possible to leverage it and turn it into an online course that will deliver transformational results to your students.

Create Your Signature Framework

Signature frameworks and/or processes are essential if you want to scale your coaching business with courses.

Your online course shouldn't be just another platform where you throw content to your audience. Everything you teach and share should be organized in a way that your students can replicate the process and get the same results every time.

Your intention as a course creator is not to cause information overload to your students. Your goal is to deliver the course in the simplest way possible so your audience can easily absorb what they're learning and take action on it.

Plan Out Your Course Strategy

Scaling your business with online courses entails a very efficient strategy from course ideation to validation to creation up until your launch and marketing. It's very easy to lose your mind over the process and feel like launching an online course was just another thing on your to-do list.

To make it fun, practical, and less stressful, you should have a strategy mapped out so that you'll know what steps to take. Having this will ensure that you'll have fewer missteps and mistakes along the way.
